* * The Month of November 2004 * * I am currently working hard at preparing to have the eRock auction servers relocated to the Sacramento area. Since this is near where I live...it will be much easier for me to perform many of the actual feature upgrades on the auction software. Something I've been meaning to do for some time now. A lot of thought and planning is involved in making such a move. Backup computers have been built and will be in place shortly. Then everything has to be set up, fine tuned, and thoroughly tested. The actual move could still be about eights weeks out. I'll be sending out notices about a week or so before it actually happens. * * The Month of October 2004 * * On a personal note...my longtime girlfriend Debbie and I got married on the 25th of this month. We eloped with our folks to Lake Tahoe Nevada and were married by a minister at a wedding chapel in the Caesars hotel.![]() Bob - your host on eRock * * The Month of September 2004 * * The monthly drawing here on eRock will be temporarily put on hold until some bugs are ironed out. I expect to have it back up and running by sometime in December. You can continue to enter the drawing every month because the drawing will start back up where it was last left off. All entries have been and will continue to be saved. Thank you for your patience and understanding.* * The Month of August 2004 * *
Everything is back up and running fine now :-) Thank you for your patience! The SMTP outgoing email server is back online and working. This means that all the auction generated emails are going out. But we're still having issues with the Pop3 incoming email server. What that means is that any emails sent to eRock will be delayed in reaching us. Please check back for updates. Thank you again for your patience. We have taken down the mail servers today for upgrades and maintenance. While this is happening there will be no incoming or out going email. If all goes well the email servers should be back online later on this afternoon. You may post any questions or comments by replying to this message in the forum. Registration is not required to reply/post in the Support forum. Your patience and understanding is appreciated. Thank you! Bob - your host on eRock * * The Month of June 2004 * * This month's Featured Artist Website was the official site for: STYX (Find link) Styx, named after a river from Greek mythology that ran through the 'land of the dead' in the underworld. Early on, Styx's music reflected such then-current progressive rockers as Emerson Lake & Palmer and the Moody Blues, as evidenced by such releases as 1972's self-titled debut, 73's Styx II, 74's The Serpent is Rising, and 75's Man of Miracles. Paradise Theater became Styx's biggest hit of their career (selling over 3 million copies in a 3 year period), and they became one of the U.S. "top rock acts" due to such big hit singles as: Lady, Too Much Time on my Hands, and The Best of Times.* * Last Week of May 2004 * *
* * Third Week of May 2004 * * This week I sent out a memo to all the members here on eRock. If you for some reason didn't receive yours, or you opt-not to receive our memos when you registered, then you are welcome to click here to read a copy of the actual memo.
* * Second Week of May 2004 * * continue with the monthly drawings. Let the contest resume! * * Third Week of April 2004 * * This week's Featured Artist Website was the official site for: Van Halen (Find link) The rumors are true. The wait is over. Finally!...EDDIE, ALEX, MIKE & SAMMY HIT THE ROAD! Kicking off their Summer 2004 Tour on June 11th at the "Greensboro Coliseum" in North Carolina. The band's forthcoming release, titled "The Very Best of Van Halen" will hit stores July 20th! The two disc set features three BRAND NEW tunes: It's About Time, Learning To See, and Up For Breakfast.![]() Photo credit Kevin Westenberg * * Second Week of April 2004 * * Okay it looks like the incoming email problem here on eRock has been discovered. It seems to be a (Domain Name System) DNS server related problem. There are DNS servers all over the world and their main purpose is to take a URL (domain name) address and point it to the computer on which a specific website (or in this case our mail server) is located on. Simply put...it converts names to numbers. It's really hard to explain this without being technical and all. But we ended up moving our DNS server to another computer and pointing it directly to the (Internet Protocol) IP address of our Pop3 mail server.Anyway it looks like the incoming email problem has finally been resolved. We will continue to monitor it closely and if anyone seems to be having a problem emailing us here at eRock, please let us know about it. You can always contact us using the internal email form located on our Help page. The internal email form has never been affected by the problem we were having. If you send us an email through the "Help" page, you can rest assured that we will receive it. Thank you all for your patience. * * First Week of April 2004 * * We have suspected for sometime now that there was a problem with our incoming (Pop3) email server. It just seemed that we weren't always receiving our emails. Intermittent problems can be really tough to find. The problem started getting worse this week with over 20% of the incoming messages to all eRock email addresses being lost. Some of our members are becoming frustrated trying unsuccessfully to contact us.* * Last Week of March 2004 * *
This week's Featured Artist Website was the official site for: Mick Fleetwood (Find link) The drummer and a founding member of Fleetwood Mac. Mick was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on January 12, 1998 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Over the last 36 years Fleetwood Mac released 23 records. Their 1977 release "Rumours" was a great rock record with next to no flaws...it's so immaculate that it's almost terrifying. According to the band's Web site, 42 concerts are scheduled to begin in May. It'll be Fleetwood Mac's first tour since 1997 when they single-handedly sold out arenas around the States. The band has a new album "Say You Will", to be released April 15th. * * Second Week of March 2004 * * This week's Featured Artist Website was the official site for: Tommy Castro (Find link) Years of touring, writing, and recording have resulted in a masterful blend of the musical genres that Tommy loves: blues, rock and soul. In 1999 he recorded 'Right As Rain', for Blind Pig Records which charted on Billboard blues charts for eight weeks, and received honor as, "One of the 40 Best Blues Rock Albums Of All Time" by the Blues Revue Magazine's reader's poll.Tommy's most recent release 'Gratitude' is a tribute CD, is forward thinking, in that its release represents the launching of Castro's own label, Heart & Soul Records. If you've ever heard Tommy Castro before, you know that this man's been pumping out a series of excellent albums that are a combination of hard Blues, Memphis Soul and traditional guitar-driven Rock 'n' Roll. * * First Week of March 2004 * * This Saturday evening (March 6th) was a special night for me. And I have seller FunkyKenny to thank for that. Ken has been a member here on eRock since August of 2000. Since joining eRock we've emailed back and forth from time to time keeping each other abreast of what's been happening but never really having meet...until this Saturday that is. It's actually pretty rare that I have the pleasure of meeting face to face with members of eRock. Over the last year or so Ken's been trying to encourage me to check out Tommy Castro, a blues rock singer guitarist that he's handling the merchandising for. Well it just so happens that this week while visiting Tommy's website I discovered that The Tommy Castro Band would be performing in concert at a local nightclub in Folsom, California called the PowerHouse Pub. I then emailed Ken asking if he knew anything about the show. He emailed me back to say that him and his wife Anne would be selling merchandise for Tommy at that show. So we ended up meeting for the first time in front of the PowerHouse Pub and walked across the street to the Hacienda restaurant for a bite to eat before the show. Ken graciously squeezed me in on the guest list of the already sold out concert :-) It was a really good show by the Tommy Castro Band which was also broadcast live that night on 88.9 FM. This band is one of the better blues bands I've had the pleasure of seeing. They had the place rockin! After the second set Ken personally introduced me to Tommy Castro and his bass player Randy McDonald...both two very nice people. Needless to say I had a fun memorable evening thanks to FunkyKenny and his wife Anne. And on a different note...Recording Superstar Michael Jackson Launches Personal Website. At 12:00 NOON, March 1st, 2004, Michael, launched his personal website, MJJSOURCE.COM, which becomes the official site for news and information regarding him, and his projects. The objective of this site is to provide the public and media official reports and exclusive interviews pertaining to the Michael Jackson case. * * Last Week of February 2004 * *
This week's Featured Artist Website was the official site for: Def Leppard (Find link) In November of 1977, Def Leppard's first rehearsal takes place at a spoon factory near Bramall Lane, Sheffield (UK). In November of 1978 they produce their first recording "THE DEF LEPPARD EP". In 1979 they sign their first recording deal. All band members give up their day jobs and Rick Allen (drummer) age 16 at the time drops out of school. In September that same year, the band opens for Sammy Hagar. Since then they have gone on to produced 10 albums. March 16, 1999 Def Leppard becomes one of the inaugural recipients of the newly launched RIAA Diamond Awards in the USA. The award is for over 10 million sales in the US of the album "HYSTERIA" which has now sold 12 million in the US and over 16 million worldwide. In September of 2000, the band gets inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk Hall of Fame, where they received a plaque and leave their hand prints in cement. Def Leppard has produced and continues to produce great rock music...and they have a website worth the visit! * * Third Week of January 2004 * *
* * Second Week of January 2004 * * This week's Featured Artist Website was the official site for: Steven Van Zandt (Find link) longtime guitarist and founding member of Bruce Springsteens E Street Band. You may also know Steve from The Sopranos (he plays Silvio Dante) or you might know him as the DJ of "Little Stevens Underground Garage". Steve is currently on tour with Bruce and the E Street Band to promote the hugely successful album, The Rising. * * First Week of January 2004 * * ![]() May you all have a Happy, Safe , Healthy, and Prosperous Year.
