* * Second Week of October 2002 * * Ron (alias: Recordman6) one of the distinguished members here on eRock was kind enough to write and submit a very nice letter that was printed in the music collector's magazine called Goldmine. Here's how Ron's letter appeared in the September 6th 2002 issue on page thirty:Solid source for rock found in Goldmine If I am like anyone else who subscribes to Goldmine, I am burned out by eBay. There are some good collectors trying to sell there, but for the most part, in my opinion, it is a seven or ten-day per item garage sale. That is why I wanted to bring attention to an advertiser in Goldmine who makes trading online a breath of fresh air and fun. eRock.net (not .com, but .net) buys one Collector's Showcase ad per issue, and it can be overlooked by all the ads surrounding it. But that little ad represents a small, yet safe, growing trading place for rock 'n' rollers. There are vendors who sell vinyl who grade it accurately. The are vendors who sell CDs. There is memorabilia for sale...magazines, tour books, tickets, guitar picks...just about anything rock related. Registered sellers have to be approved before they can sell. The site is devoted to having quality merchandise properly graded change hands. If all that was not good enough, eRock.net gives away $200 per month in funds that can be used on the site toward buying whatever you want. You just have to use the money in two months. Not a bad extra, huh? I just thought I had to write this little note to let readers know that there is an alternative to eBay for their rock 'n' roll needs; it is eRock.net. Jesus bless. Peace :) Ron - Hackensack NJ Your article will remain on display in my office. Bob :-) * * First Week of October 2002 * * This weeks Artist Link of the Week featured the official fanclub website for: The Rolling Stones (Find link) On the occasion of their 40 years history, the Rolling Stones are doing a worldwide tour. The Stones open their world tour in Boston. They're on the road again! Their new album Forty Licks is a two-CD set jam-packed with over two and a half hours of music. Ranging from the Stones' earliest days as a raw, rowdy R&B cover band, right up to the present moment, Forty Licks is like an audio tour through the amazing history of the Rolling Stones plus 4 new, never-before-released songs.* * Last Week of September 2002 * * Thursday (Sept. 26th) Okay now...the email scripts are up and running again...finally!! The auction is back to normal. I can't tell you what a relief that is. I will finally get a good night sleep. Yes, I sleep like everyone else. Well, usually anyway, but sometimes not. My sincere thanks and gratitude goes out to all that helped in resolving eRock's problems. I couldn't have done it without you guys. And to all eRock's members, thank you for your patience and understanding. NOW IT'S TIME TO ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Wednesday (Sept. 25th) The auction is back to refreshing itself every thirty minutes and the main server for eRock is just about back to normal. The only thing left to do is to activate all the email scripts and start the auction generated emails functions. We hope to have them all up and working tomorrow. Again I'd like to apologize to all our members for any problems and concern this unexpected situation has caused. Monday (Sept. 23rd) We worked on the main auction server all day with some progress made in working out the bugs, but we're still not quite finished yet. We are open for bidding, sellers can list or re-list their music items, and the seller's registration form is now working too. So there has been some good progress. Although not as much as we had anticipated. As it stands, most of the auction generated emails are still not going out. We're manually sending out the new registration confirmations, and we are having to manually refresh the auction from time to time. There are people in Florida, Texas, and here in California all working together to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. Please be patient just a little longer for we hope to be able to get things back to normal operation over the next day or so. Thank you. * * Third Week of September 2002 * * Friday night (Sept. 20th) at about 12 midnight, eRock had a partial system failure. We have been working on it for 24 hours straight now and have the site up and kind of limping along. We took eRock off line this morning for about an hour for some in-depth analysis. It will be Monday before we can get the equipment needed to get eRock running normal again. As it stands, eRock is not refreshing itself. This is an important function of the auction. Usually the auction refreshes itself every half hour. Items that are listed while the auction isn't refreshing may not show up right away, although most of the category pages are updating and the new items have been showing up. The new Seller's registration form won't be working and the daily email bidding and or listing reports won't be sent either. Actually no auction generated emails will be sent until sometime on Monday. Buyers can still post bids on eRock! This is a rare situation for eRock and I want to apologize for any inconvenience or concern that this may have caused any of our members or visitors. Please come back and see how we're doing on Monday. We should have this problem resolved then. You are welcome to direct any questions or concerns that you may have by emailing eRock at: admin@eRock.net Thank you all for your continuing support! Sincerely, Bob - your host on eRock.net * * Second Week of August 2002 * *

Creedence Clearwater Revival had begun. John recalls, "We all agreed that the name was better than we were. We couldn't carry a beat in a bucket at that time, but we had aspirations." In a very short period of time, Creedence went on to become a legendary monster hit machine. The band's output still reverberates today. The heart of that machine was, of course, John, the band's singer, lead guitarist and, most importantly, songwriter. * * Third Week of May 2002 * *

It's not fair to start charging a radio station for doing what they do every day, regardless of signal location... Rulemakings and Related Actions Concerning Webcasting. The Copyright Office and Library of Congress have taken the following actions relating to rulemakings and Copyright Arbitration Royalty Proceedings involving the digital performance right and statutory license governed by 17 U.S.C. §114. Rulemaking to Determine Whether a Transmission of an AM or FM Radio Signal made over a Digital Communications Network by an FCC-licensed Broadcaster is Exempt from the Digital Performance Right (Docket No. RM 2000-3). The Copyright Office has amended its regulations to clarify that transmissions of an AM/FM broadcast signal over a digital communications network, such as the Internet, are subject to a sound recording copyright owner's exclusive right to perform his or her work publicly by means of digital audio transmissions. Broadcasters who choose to transmit their radio signals over a digital communications network such as the Internet may do so under a compulsory license The Office has determined that an FCC-licensed broadcaster is not exempt from a copyright owner's digital performance right for sound recordings under these circumstances. Section 114(d)(1)(A) of title 17 of the United States Code exempts a noninteractive performance of a sound recording by means of a digital audio transmission from the sound recording copyright owner's exclusive rights when the performance is part of "a nonsubscription broadcast transmission." Section 114(j)(3) defines a broadcast transmission as "a transmission made by a terrestrial broadcast station licensed as such by the Federal Communications Commission. The Office concluded that for purposes of section 114, a "broadcast transmission" includes only over-the-air transmissions made by an FCC-licensed broadcaster under the terms of that license. * * First Week of April 2002 * * This weeks Artist Link of the Week featured the Official International Fan Club website for: Meat Loaf (Find link) * * Last Week of March 2002 * * On Wednesday evening at 10:30 pm Pacific Standard time, eRock was taken off line for six hours as the auction servers were moved to a more secure location. You'd think that you could just unplug them, move them, and plug them back in. Well...I'll tell you, it took all of six hours to do it. Every thing went smoothly though, no data was lost, and eRock was back on-line at 4:30 am in the morning. Sorry if anyone was inconvenience by the move. This weeks Artist Link of the Week featured the Official website for: Sammy Hagar (Find link) Check out these recent postings on Sammy's website. You won't believe it... March 15 2002 Believe it or not Sammy & David Lee Roth are talking about touring this summer. Sammy was blown away at how well they got along together. Sammy says: "If this happens, this would have to be the party of a lifetime"!!!! Stay tuned! We'll keep ya posted!! February 26 2002 Slash wasn't able to make it to the studio on short notice. We took that opportunity with the four of us Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Neal Schon and Dean Castronovo and recorded the two songs, "Vertigo" and "Peeping Through a Hole." The working name of the band is Planet Us. We are hoping that Slash can join us down the road because we won't be doing anything serious until the fall since Sammy and the Waborita's and Journey will be on tour this summer. *Dates to be announced.* It is possible that Planet Us will be part of the Meltdown in Cabo this October. February 23 2002 Sammy, Michael Anthony, Neal Schon and Dean Castronovo are in the studio recording a few tunes! They've finished two great songs, "Vertigo" and "Peeping Through A Hole" and are hoping to have them in a movie soundtrack. The music sounds like a combination of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and Tool. The guys are hoping to have Slash join them on the adventure and possibly record a guitar part for the song, "Vertigo". This is a great and fun side project for all involved. Sammy is also currently in the middle of planning the Summer 2002 tour with the Waboritas!! * * Third Week of March 2002 * *

Ozzy came out victorious on both occasions.* * First Week of March 2002 * *
* * Last Week of February 2002 * * This weeks Artist Link of the Week featured a really good Fansite for: The Who (Find link) The Who made their first big splash in London after taking over the Tuesday night spot at the Marquee Club in November 1964. Pete's earliest songs were written to match Rogers macho stage posture. Roger was the leader of the group at the time, a position he controlled with his fists. Petes increasing abilities as a song writer threatened that position, especially after the hit single "My Generation." It was a defining ode to the Mod outlook on life, with the singer stuttering from amphetamine-overdose crying out "I hope I die before I get old." With the single a hit in the charts in December 1965, Pete, John and Keith forced Roger out of the band because of his violent ways. Roger promised to be a "peaceful perce" from then on, and was accepted back. At the same time, The Who released their first album, also called "My Generation"...and the rest is history. Be sure to check out theWho.net for a complete biography on The Who.* * Third Week of February 2002 * * Everything on the auction here seems to be running very smoothly.
