happened on eRock ~ Back in 1999 |
![]() |
* * Last Week of December 1999 * * I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas as we come to the end of another year of rock-n-roll and the 1900s. We..will..we..will..rock you! Happy holidays to everybody in cyberspace and peace be with you all. Now lets party!!!!! You may have noticed that there are some small black
stars * * Third Week of December 1999 * * This has been kind of a tough week for us at eRock. We were struggling with the installation of a Microsoft® Access 2000, the latest generation in Microsofts database management systems, typically used at the front end of high-end database engines such as the Microsoft SQL Server...like what we use here on our server. The toughest part was on Wednesday and Thursday during the initial install when the auction was taken to its knees a couple of times. Both times the auction server required electro shock CPR to bring it back to life. After stabilizing all vital signs, we completed the operation. For five days afterwards the server tried to reject the new data base a few times. But with our team of five specialists working around the clock, the auction server finally excepted the new data base. The operation was a success! Check out the review AuctionWatch did on eRock this week...not bad for our first review. It also has some good comments directed to us that we will probably incorporate in the very near future. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official Web site for: Foreigner (Find link) Now that Foreigner's 1999 tour is over things are slowly returning to normal for the guys and fans are eagerly awaiting a new album in 2000. The tour itself was a great success and Foreigner played to over a half million fans who, judging by the fan responses, really got their money's worth. This band has been cranking out the hits since 1976. * * Second Week of December 1999 * * This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the very cool Official Web site for: The Doobie Brothers (Find link) Rhino Records has released an assortment of Doobie Brothers material spanning three decades, from 1970 to the year 2000. The four CD box set should be in stores near you right now, or at your favorite on line CD seller. The Rhino release, entitled "Long Train Runnin'", is comprised mostly of material from the band's long history of album releases, singles, and studio out takes. However, it also contains a "pre-release" track from the upcoming Pyramid project; the Pyramid release date will be some time in early 2000. * * First Week of December 1999 * * We're excited to announce that we have started a new promotion which hopefully will benefit the members of our music auction. Rather then throwing all our money into cyberspace in the form of advertising, We thought it would be nice to toss some of it to our members every month in the form of a drawing. Each monthly winner will be required to spend the winnings bidding on items in the auction at eRock...kind of like a shopping spree. This promotion is meant to help strengthen the eRock community, so please take the time to show your support and participate in our new monthly drawing. Virtually all contest drawings found on the internet are actually run by someone unrelated to the Web site that it's on, and are made to attract anybody and their mother. Well, our drawing was built by and will be run by eRock itself. This promotion is only for you our music auction members. To learn more about and participate in this new promotion of ours, you can go here or go to our home page and click on the link located there. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official Web site for: Blondie (Find link) Yes she's back and Billboard Magazine called their latest release: No Exit "the best Blondie album ever." * * Last Week of November 1999 * * We would like to wish everyone in rock-n-roll cyberspace a Happy Thanksgiving! and to thank everybody out there for their ongoing support of our music auction site...now lets eat, sing, and be merry. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official Web site for that great rock group: The Moody Blues (Find link) The Moodies Nights in White Satin was inducted into The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences "Hall of Fame" on Saturday March 20th of this year in 1999. * * Third Week of November 1999 * * Monthly drawing update: We are real close to completing our monthly Auction $ Money drawing. For more information go here. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to e-mail us about it. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official magazine web site for rock singer: Elton John (Find link) * * Second Week of November 1999 * * As we pound away at our new monthly drawing soon to be released, we have come up with a name for it...it will be called: Auction Money which will be trade marked by eRock. We have started uploading the pages this week and hope to have it on-line very soon. Other news, the actual listing pages now label the Featured Auctions at the top of the pages, where as they use to be just placed at the top of the page of the corresponding category. And another feature that we have received numerous requests for is at the bottom of the category pages. It use to just say [Previous] & [Next] no matter how many pages there was to view. Now it actually displays the individual pages (example): [1] 2 3 4 5 . This will make it quicker and easier to jump from say...page five back to page two, where you remember seeing something you may have wanted to bid on. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website of that great singer and rock band: Pat Benatar (Find link) Her new CD "Synchronistic Wanderings" was just released. It is a recorded anthology from 1979 to 1999. There is some really great songs on this album and it is a "must have" for you Benatar fans. * * First Week of November 1999 * * We are still working hard on our up and coming monthly drawing...soon to be unveiled. Another feature we plan to add soon will be a multi subject bulletin (discussion) board. This should be fun, informative and helpful for all the members of eRock. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website for that legendary rock band: Jethro Tull (Find link) * * Last Week of October 1999 * * I hope everybody ended the month with a Happy Halloween! We broke the 1700 items listed mark a couple times this week...we're getting up there. It looks like it will be sometime next month that we will actually incorporate our monthly drawing as mentioned earlier. We had to make sure that the monthly drawing stayed within the Consumer Protection guidelines and the State Attorney General's rules. It's all pretty straight forward stuff for a simple drawing like we're going to have...it's just better to be safe then sorry if you know what I mean. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website of that great legendary rock band: Deep Purple (Find link) Take a trip and abandon yourself to Deep Purple in the Land of Oz...visit their web site now. * * Third Week of October 1999 * * On Monday the18th of this week at about 2 am PDT (that's California surfer time) a mama board on our auction server started failing. We decided to take the auction down, so as not to take the chance of corrupting any files, and replace that bad mama board. eRock was down for awhile that day while we changed out the board and then went through a recovering process before putting the auction back on line. This was our first major outage in the 8 months we've been open, and that's really not too bad comparably speaking if you know what I mean. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website of: S T Y X (Find link) They are currently on tour here in North America throughout the rest of the year. There is renewed excitement in the Styx camp these days with their commitment to reintroducing themselves to fans new and old all over the world. * * Second Week of October 1999 * * There are now over 950 registered members on eRock and we've already broke the 1500 mark a couple times this week with items listed on the auction. If you're not yet registered on this up and coming auction site, you might want to jump on board now...it's simple and registration is free. So what are you waiting for...we have a lot of new and exciting things that are going to be happening around here real soon. And what might that be you ask...well how about a drawing every month for two hundred dollars and a virtual chat room to hang out in for starters... * * First Week of October 1999 * * The improved Search page is now in operation as first mentioned last week. We will probably be adding a couple more search features to it and maybe clean it up a little. The improved Search page should make it a lot more convenient to find the things your looking for without having to jump around as much between other pages. Also mentioned last week for the first time, a $200 credit used for bidding here on the auction will be given away in a monthly drawing to registered members. Once the details have been worked out and the monthly drawing has been implemented, a link to the "Entry Form" will be placed on our homepage. This simple form will require your user ID and Password to verify your membership here on eRock. If you want to enter the drawing monthly, you can...but you will need to fill out the form once a month to qualify. Look for another update soon... This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website of: Stevie Nicks (Find link) Stevie and her band will perform at the legendary House of Blues in Las Vegas on New Years Eve. The House of Blues is inside the Mandalay Bay Resort. Tickets will go on sale October 16th at noon. For more info visit Stevie's website. * * Last Week of September 1999 * * Except for a couple of minor glitches in the mail server, this past week went pretty smoothly. We are currently working on four projects here on eRock. We are putting together an improved Search page by consolidating five different search features on one page. It should be in place by the second week of October. The auction servers are being replaced with custom built machines currently in beta testing as mentioned last week. The refresh rate of the Wanted page will be extended from 30 to 90 days in the next few weeks or so. What we're trying to say is that the Wanted page automatically deletes postings that are 30 days old and what we're going to do is extend that to 90 days. And the fourth project being worked on is the most exciting yet...we decided that we'll take $200 a month from our marketing budget and instead of throwing into cyberspace we would throw it in your direction. What we mean is that eRock is going to hold a monthly drawing and we will be giving away $200 to one of our registered members every month. This $200 will be used as credit by the winner to bid on items at eRock. The details are now being worked out and the monthly drawing should be in place by the end of October. See next week for more info... This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official Fansite of that great Texas rock band: ZZTop (Find link) They are currently on a full blown United States tour. The "XXX Tour" with special guest Lynyrd Skynyrd. You don't want to miss this killer concert when it comes to your town! * * Third Week of September 1999 * * Ok...we are now averaging 1300 music items listed in the auction this past week with 30 new registered members coming on board. We have built some new auction servers that we will be moving eRock to in the next few weeks. These fuel injected turbo charged cyber monsters are currently going through extensive beta testing and have shown to be extremely stable under high speeds. The server upgrades will allow the auction to continue growing without any problems and will also allow us to add some new and exciting features that we will be announcing in the near future. It may be necessary to temporarily close down the auction for about 1 hour and this should happen sometime soon. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website of that great rock band: Journey (Find link) * * Second Week of September 1999 * * We are now entering into our 8th month of operation on the web with over 1200 music items listed on the auction. This auction site is like a sports car compared to most other on-line auctions sites out there. It's fast, user friendly, and powerful. Now if you like the idea of a (vertical market) auction specializing in music, then please give us your support. Collecting rock memorabilia is a big market and it can also be alot of fun. Sure, right now some of you may think that some of the sellers on eRock are asking a little much for their items. If you think about it, the prices really are not high. The sellers know what their items end up ultimately selling for somewhere else. So since there isn't much bidding competition on eRock right now, you will probably end up the winning bidder if you place a bid on something here at this auction site. We have a lot of cool plans for this auction site that everybody will benefit from...but it will take your continuing participation to turn this place into something really great. Keep coming back and together we can rock the world! * * First Week of September 1999 * * eRock is just about holding it's own with over 1100 music items on the auction and over 850 registered members. If you like what you see here at this rock-n-roll auction, please keep coming back and together we can help to keep Classic Rock alive and well. Now lets rock! This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official website of none other than: Crosby Stills & Nash (Find link) and they just happen to be putting out a new album with Neil Young and will be following it up with a world tour. Can't wait! * * Fourth Week of August 1999 * * eRock has broken the 1,000 items listed on the auction mark this week with a little help from some record and poster dealers...thank you very much! Now let's see if we can hold it above that and take it to the next mark. If you haven't yet registered here on eRock, this is the time to do it. With lots of great rock-n-roll items to bid on....Register now! This week we implemented the new "Rock Magazines/books" category, and changed the category "Records and CDs" to: Vinyl Records. The Terms and Conditions were also updated a little. If you are registered here on eRock, you are suppose to have read this agreement. If you have not already done so, you may want to take the time now to read it. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official web site of the legendary rock group: The Doors (Find link) * * Third Week of August 1999 * * We've had a number of requests for yet another new category. This time, one pertaining to music publications, so we will be adding a category called Rock Magazines/books next week. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official web site of Rock Supergroup: Led Zeppelin (Find link) * * Second Week of August 1999 * * The reports from our stats server shows that 45+ people a day are looking at the Wanted list here on eRock. If you can't find what you are looking for on the auction, please take the time to list it in the Wanted section. This is a simple and free service to all registered members, so take advantage of it. You just might be surprised and get a response from someone that has the rock-n-roll item(s) that you're looking for. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official "Graceland" web site of the king himself: Elvis Presley (Find link) * * First Week of August 1999 * * We had a number of requests for this new category: Kiss Memorabilia. So now you have it! Congratulations to everybody that made it to the Beatlefest in Chicago this weekend! The show was put on by Mark Lapidos, the founder and promoter of the Beatlefest for the last 23 years. Thank you Mark for keeping it going! * * Fourth Week of July 1999 * * Some of you may have noticed that our chat room was down. We've made a couple of upgrades to the auction recently and every time we did this it seemed to cause problems with the chat room. In about two months we plan to upgrade the chat room itself to what is called a Java chat room. We'll keep you posted with our progress....in the meantime, the old chat room is back in action! This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official web site of non other than: (we all love you) Paul McCartney (Find link) * * Third Week of July 1999 * * This week we added a Pollstar search engine to the bottom of page one of the Artist Link pages. This cool little search device will let you find out if your favorite group is currently on tour, what date and where they will be playing in concert. You can also do a search of who's playing in your town or nearby. Also, if there's a place you usually go to see concerts at, you can perform a search of who is going to be playing there...and often you can find out before it is even announced to the public. Check out this powerful little search engine here. We've been having a problem with the filter not working properly in the Wanted List. The problem has now been resolved and the list is also refreshing itself every 30 days to purge the old listings. Posting your wanted items for everyone to look at is free to all registered users here on eRock. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was Official web site of one of the greatest southern rock bands to grace this here planet: Lynyrd Skynyrd (Find link) * * Second Week of July 1999 * * Our little rock-n-roll community now has almost 700 members and continues to grow with new visitors stopping by and registering everyday. We have added an additional 9 links (that were placed in the suggestion box) to the Artist Link page bringing the total to 234 links. I think that we will someday need to place a little search window in the link page. 234 links maybe too much for some people to scroll through...but it sure is fun! This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official web site of one of the greatest living guitar players in the world: Carlos Santana! (Find link) * * First Week of July 1999 * * The staff here at eRock would like to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July!! As this new auction site dedicated to Rock-n-Roll continues to grow, we would like to encourage everyone in our new on-line community to stay involved and keep checking back often as more and more sellers continue to list there items here. If you haven't yet registered here on eRock, we welcome you to do so now. This weeks Artist Link of the Week took you on a Magic Bus Ride to the Official web site of: John Kay's Steppenwolf (Find link) * * Fourth Week of June 1999 * * eRock is now five months old with between 700 and 800 great rock-n-roll items listed on the auction. The people over at Xpress Press are working on a press release for us that will be distributed to the media shortly. Our new banner ad is running on a Hard Rock Cafe pin collector site called My Pins. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the world renown Beatles web site by Steve Clifford. Steve is the assistant editor of Beatlology Magazine, has an extensive knowledge of Beatles collectibles, and web site design. He is well-known in the world of Beatles collecting with his fantastic web site dedicated to anything Beatlish. His site was recently voted No.2 most popular Beatles web site in the world!! * * Third Week of June 1999 * * eRock has a couple of new Banner Ads that will be running on other web sites to help promote this site. You can view the new banners here. This is our first attempt at banner ads, with many more to come...so keep your eyes open. If you have a music related web site that you would like to use one on...go ahead, we very much appreciate all the support we can get. Registration at eRock has grown to 600 members strong as we continue to get the word out to all our Cyberspace rock-n-roll friends. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official web site of one of the greatest rock groups to ever exist. Lets hear it for The Rolling Stones! (Find link) * * Second Week of June 1999 * * The new and 5th Artist Links page has been posted and there are 25 new links ready to use. We also tried to brighten things up a bit in the link pages by changing the bar grafts from light gray to light lavender in color...similar to what we did a couple of weeks ago with the Item Listing pages. This week the invoices went out to all the sellers on eRock for the first time. Since we haven't yet incorporated the listing fees, the sellers were only invoiced for commissions on the items that they sold. Everything seemed to go smoothly with only a couple of sellers e-mailing us with questions or comments regarding the invoices. eRock has also incorporated the services of NetMechanic. They will monitor our server 24 hours a day, submit a weekly report on the status of eRock, and if anything goes wrong with it, they will notify us immediately by e-mail, pager, and phone. This service is actually redundant since someone at eRock is usually always on-line, but we look at this as an added precautionary measure in assuring that eRock is always up and running. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the Official site of: The Grateful Dead (Find link) * * First Week of June 1999 * * eRock now has well over 500 registered users and growing...not bad for being only four months old. We are starting to move up in the search engine ranks and the word is getting out. Some improvements/changes are being made to the Artist Link pages, one of the more popular sections here at the auction. We are adding a fifth page with an additional 25 links that have accumulated in our suggestion box over the last four months. There is still room for 25 more links on this new page, so if you know of a rock-n-roll super group that's not on the list, let us know. Registered buyers: The form to upgrade to seller/buyer status is now functioning and can be found here in the Registration Directory. So if you are currently a buyer here on eRock and you would like to start selling items on the auction, it's now just a simple matter of filling out an easy request form. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the New England supergroup: Aerosmith (Find link) * * Fourth Week of May 1999 * * As we come to the end of yet another month this week was smooth sailing and somewhat uneventful. I really shouldn't say uneventful...there was alot of great new rock-n-roll items put on the auction this week and the "bar graphs" in the listing pages went from light gray to the new light lavender color. Also, hyperlinks to CDNOW were added to the top and bottom of the Artist Link pages for a quick way to go check out your favorite groups latest CD release or just read about the latest news on them. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was brought to you by the surviving family members of the greatest guitar player ever to live: Jimi Hendrix (Find link) * * Third Week of May 1999 * * eRock is now 15 weeks old with over 400 registered users and growing at a rate of about 45 new users a week. I want to thank all of you who have registered, for believing in this auction site and for your participation here on eRock. We have alot of new and improved features that will be implemented as the auction grows to help make things easier and more fun for everyone. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments, please let us know...don't keep them to yourself. All e-mail is personally responded to in a timely manner by the friendly staff here at eRock. This weeks Artist Link of the Week was the legendary Alice Cooper (Find link) * * Second Week of May 1999 * * A few exciting changes were implemented this week on eRock....first: we added the "Artist link of the Week" to the home page. These weekly links will be taken from our Artist link pages at random and placed on our home page for those who haven't yet checked out the Artist links or had the time to go through all 200 of them. This weeks Artist link of the Week was:
Molly
Hatchet (Find
link) And third: also for the convenience of our sellers we have made it easier to relist items here on the auction by adding the multiple relisting feature in the "Seller" services page. If your a seller with alot of items on the auction you'll find this a great time saving feature worth checking out. * * First Week of May 1999 * * This week we implemented the change from the e-mail address to user ID as the primary form of identification used in the listing/bidding pages on eRock. Your user ID is now what everybody will see on eRock. If you become unhappy with what you originally chose for your ID, you may submit a request to change it. Please include 3 choices in case someone else already has the one you want, and remember, no more than 10 characters are allowed. Some of you may have noticed that the eRock logo looks different this week. Quite often we were asked if eRock was affiliated with another auction site. So we decided to put the logo in question through some changes. It will probably metamorphosis (change of form and or shape) one or two more times before the dust settles and you see the final and yet distinctively cool eRock logo. Hopefully everyone will like the finished product when completed. * * Fourth Week of April 1999 * * We have finally decided to go ahead and switch over from e-mail addresses to user IDs as the primary form of identification used in the listing/bidding pages. After numerous requests and some modifications to the software we are just about ready to implement the change. An announcement will go out to all the current registered users with the details when the switch over has been completed. As eRock continues to grow, we now have almost 700 rock-n-roll items listed on the auction. * * Third Week of April 1999 * * We are proud to say that our commitment to customer satisfaction in this early stage of growth, has qualified eRock as a "Platinum Certified Safe Auction Site" by the Public Eye. This is like the Cyberspace equivalent to the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. If you have not already seen it, you can view the actual seal on eRock's front door by going here. At this point in time there are just over 350 people registered here on eRock and we have about 650 items on the auction. Approximately 5 new people are registering every day and with the listings on the search engines just now starting to kick in, we should see these numbers really start to grow over the next couple of months. If you haven't already registered, please do so now and become part of this expanding community of rock-n-roll memorabilia collectors. * * Second Week of April 1999 * * We would like to welcome everybody that came here by way of the internet Tourbus. This is a nice little e-mail publication with a very large circulation that eRock has decided to help sponsor. The Tourbus will stop off here about once every two weeks bringing new visitors to the site which should ultimately help boost our registration. * * First Week of April 1999 * * Over 600 items are now on the auction as we start to pick up
the pace with 4+ new people registering every day. We are getting ready to
start banner advertizing on the web, increase our ads in a couple more music
publications, and maybe even bring in a public relations firm. Can't wait to
see where we're at in six months from now. There are now 200 artists in our Artist Link pages after adding John Cougar Mellencamp's home page to the list. The reports from our stats server show that the Artist link pages continue to be the second most popular feature on eRock aside from the auction itself. A fifth page may soon be added that could accommodate another 50 links. * * Fourth Week of March 1999 * * This week was very hectic here at eRock with a new T1 line being brought in. It was suppose to be a plug-n-play kind of thing...boy did we learn in a hurry that there is no such thing when it comes to switching the server over to another line. Everything had to be reconfigured with two T1s on the same router until Internic switched over the IP addresses. This was suppose to happen by the 31st and of course it didn't because Internic was backlogged. It required around the clock attention this past week just to try and keep eRock on-line. We weren't always successful either, and want apologize to everyone out there that happen to be on eRock in those unforeseen moments of down time. Once the IP addresses have been transferred (hopefully this coming week), we will complete the configuration process and go back to smooth sailing with plenty of calm water to spare. On a brighter note, more sellers are listing more items here on
eRock and we now have close to 500 rock-n-roll collectibles on the auction. I
want to thank all the current sellers for their continuing support and
patience. And for listing some really great collectibles here on this new
auction site. Thank you all again! * * Third Week of March 1999 * * This week publisher Matt Hurwitz announces "Good Day Sunshine" Issue #83 has been released. Inside this 96-page issue, you'll find an 11-page feature on Linda McCartney. Part 1 of a huge feature article on the making of Ringo's "Vertical Man" album. A behind-the-scenes look at all of Ringo's promotion activities for "VM," including the making of his video for "La De Da. And catch up with the Lennon Brothers, Sean and Julian, book news and much, much more. To see more info on this great magazine click here: Good Day Sunshine. Here at eRock we have broken the 400 items on the auction mark and continue to grow on a daily basis. Our sever was down for about 3 hours on Friday while installing an additional firewall for added security after hearing about eBay getting hacked into...one can never be too careful. * * Second Week of March 1999 * * We have started this week off by placing a well deserved, and what we feel is an appropriate hyperlink, to the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame on our home page. This site is really worth checking out when you get the chance. You can also be assured that eRock will never clutter up this site with inappropriate banner or button advertising just to make a buck. Lets keep it pure Rock-n-Roll! Point of interest for sellers: if after listing an item for auction, you find a typo error or something that didn't quite come out right, and you're unable to fix it...don't panic! Send us an e-mail and we'll gladly go in and manually correct it for you. Now...where else can you get that kind of service ;-) * * First Week of March 1999 * * eRock is currently looking for two contributing writers for small weekly articles to be published on this site. Both of these articles will only be 1 to 3 paragraphs long. One would be a weekly review of all the sites listed in our popular Artist Link pages at the rate of one site per week. The other would be articles written about the artists and or groups themselves. If you or someone you know is or was a writer in the music industry, and might interested in a little extra work, please e-mail us at: eRock Administration. * * Fourth Week of February 1999 * * At this date, we have now been officially open for one month, and our rock-n-roll roots are just now starting to take a foot hold. It was a great and exciting month for all of us here at eRock. If you haven't already registered, please take the time to do so now, and be part of this new auction site. Point of interest for sellers: When listing an item on eRock, you now have the choice of starting the auction up to seven days from the time of submission. You can also dictate the actual time the auction starts/closes. Both of these features may be helpful if you would like or need more control over when your auctions end. * * Third Week of February 1999 * * The PMA (antique, collectibles, and rock-n-roll) show went well the second week of February in San Mateo, California. Ed Schreiber helped spread the word at the show by displaying our banner (thank you Ed) in his booth. He said eRock was well received there and aside from selling a lot of Beatle and Elvis memorabilia, handed out over 200 copies of our home page to interested collectors that stopped by. eRock now has eleven rock-n-roll categories and has made a modification to another. The new category is: "Guitar Picks", and the Poster category was modified to: "Posters and Handbills". These changes were made after receiving numerous requests from our sellers and collectors. General point of interest: if someone bids on an auction within 5 minutes of closing, it will automatically be extended 5 minutes. This will continue until 5 minutes after the last bid is placed. It basically turns the auction into a live auction at the end. Great for bidding wars and "eliminates sniping". * * Second Week of February 1999 * * This week was busy with a steady flow of new registered users. We're anticipating that March is when things start to take off here at eRock. Our ads in Goldmine, Discoveries, Good Day Sunshine, Beatlology, Beatlefan, and Experience Hendrix will all be hitting the street for the first time by the end of this month. So if your a new registered seller, start listing those items! We're proud to say that Ed Schreiber, a long time collector/dealer of Beatle and Elvis memorabilia, was eRock's first registered seller. Ed graciously offered to help spread the word by displaying our banner in his booth at the PMA show this month in San Mateo, California. This is a fairly large antique, collectible, and rock-n-roll show held in the south San Francisco bay area. Well see you at the next show! * * First Week of February 1999 * * "We now pronounce eRock Officially Open!" Alot has happen this first week, too much to really mention
here, but one thing that is worth mentioning is that eRock has received a
Secured Site Certificate
eRock has at this point in time approximately 200 rock-n-roll items for sale, over 100 people registered this week, and more people registering every day. We're still looking for more sellers to actively participate in this early stage of growth, so if your a seller, start listing those items right away! * * Fourth Week of January 1999 * * We now have over a hundred items for sale, and new items coming on every day...we'll soon be ready to open our doors. One of the 6 music publications we are now advertizing in hit the stands Saturday and another one goes out this week. eRock just secured ad placement in the the Beatlology magazine. Check them out, we're sure you Beatle fans will be impressed with this relatively new publication. * * Third week of January 1999 * * We want to give people a place in addition to eBay to buy and sell rock-n-roll items. So we set up eRock to be familiar so people could comfortably visit both auction sites if they wanted to without feeling awkward like going to a foreign land or something. Kind of on the same theory as going to a grocery store...they are all similar to each other in layout but aren't affiliated with each other. Once you start using this auction, if you're familiar with the other auction sites, you'll realize that there are many interesting differences that only a smaller auction site could offer. On a technical level, there is still a time issue that we are trying to resolve...in the item listing page, you aren't able to view the current time unless someone bids on the item. So we have temporarily stuck a Java clock into the page to take care of the problem. * * Second week of January 1999 * * We're now looking at about more 2 weeks of testing before we open our front door. The listing and item pages (a couple of real important pages) are 99% complete and operating. We still have some time and link issues to resolve, but it's almost there. Ad space has been secured in 5 national music publications (two of them will be on the stands this month) with some international circulation. Sellers are now starting to load up the auction, and more sellers on the way. We don't want to open the auction site as an empty warehouse now do we. * * First week of January 1999 * * Right now we're still looking at about 3 weeks of Beta testing and fine tuning before we start the engines up and let the world know we exist. Just finished the Artist Link pages and now for the listing pages. The already controversial eRock logo is also going through some changes (but for the better) before we open. Welcome 1999 |
